Tässä suurpiirteiset tyynynpäällisohjeet ompeluintoisille. Meidän ompelukoneeseen tuli pamaus-ja-oikosulku juuri ennen kesälomalle lähtöä. Tyttö ompeli itselleen yöhousuja, mutta oltiin onneksi juuri parin metrin päässä silittämässä saumoja auki, kun kone poksahti. Karmea käry, mutta onneksi ei käynyt kuinkaan. Tai siis, konehan siinä meni, mutta ei sentään räpsähtänyt sormille! Kävin Turussa Eurokankaassa ostamassa syksyistä kangasta, jotta saisin ommeltua tyynynpäälliset loman aikana vanhempieni koneella. Kangas on Kinnamarkin Capri valkoisella pohjalla. Tuommoinen ruotsalaistyylinen, värikylläinen syyspläjäys. Samasta kankaasta oli puna-, tummansini- ja mustapohjaisetkin versiot olemassa. Näyttivät näteiltä nekin, mutta olivat lopulta minun makuuni hiukan liian tummia.
Mitat toimivat Ikean höyhensisätyynylle, joka on kokoa 40x65cm. En ehtinyt vielä kuvata valmiita tyynyjä, mutta malliltaan ne ovat samanlaiset ovat esimerkiksi nämä ruusutyynyt. Äh, vanhojen postausten kuvat ovat pienentyneet! Ompelemisessa ei taaskaan kauaa mennyt ja nyt on uudet päälliset odottamassa, että puiden lehdet kellastuvat kunnolla... Ei tässä ohjeessa muuta kinkkistä juttua ole, kuin se, että mittaa vaan sitä sisätyynyä sen verran, että tyynynpäällisen pituus on kutakuinkin sopiva. (Tuuman verran kun lisää sisätyynyn mittaan, niin voi olla varma, että höyhentyyny näyttää pöyheältä päällisen sisällä.) Kannattaa myös hiukan mallailla varsinkin sen nauhan paikkaa, mikä ommellaan kauemmas kankaan reunasta, että solmu ja rusetti tulevat varmasti kivasti kohdalleen. Ja viimeiseksi kannattaa myös katsoa, ettei sitten lopuksi tikkaa noita solmimisnauhoja sinne sivusaumojen väliin. Olipas aika monta 'disclaimer' lausetta tuossa, mutta olen ommellut sitä sun tätä lapsesta lähtien (lähinnä itse kehittämilläni taidoilla), että jos tietäisitte, mitä kaikkea sitä onkaan ehtinyt tälle ompelijalle sattua, niin ette ihmettelisi!!! :D

Here is an easy cushion cover tutorial for those out there who love to sew. Our sewing machine exploded just before we went on summer vacation. Our daughter was making some pajama pants for herself, but fortunately we were just ironing the seams when it happened. The sewing machine might not recover from the shock, but it was a good thing that it did not explode at our daughter's fingers!!! I don't even want to think what could have happened. I bought some material in a shop called Eurokangas in Turku while in Finland. It's from Swedish Kinnamark and called Capri. A large colorful print inspired by the Swedish decoration style. The same print was sold also on red, black and blue backgrounds. They looked nice, too, but it probably does not surprise that I ended up with white...
It did not take long to sew, and now I have two new cushion covers waiting for the leaves in the trees to turn properly yellow and orange... I did not get to photograph the ready covers yet, but I made similar rosy ones here. (It's totally annoying that the blogger program seems to have reduced the size of the photos in my old posts!) By the way the measures work for an Ikea feather cushion size 40x65cm. The cover is quite easy to make. Two things come to my mind for issuing a few disclaimers. First, for more exact measures check the size of the pillow you intend to use inside the cover and adjust the length to it (add an inch to the exact measures to allow the cushion to look puffy). This is important especially for that strap which is attached further from the edge. So, measure before attaching. The second thing is to keep those straps out of the way when you sew the edges in the end. Don't laugh, I mean it as a serious warning! You don't want to know about all the weird accidents I have experienced since I began sewing as a kid!!! :D
